Situation Overview
Syndicate Bank operated a network of over 4,000 branches with a business volume exceeding ₹4 lakh crore, running its Core Banking System on Flexcube. Following the introduction of GST, the bank needed a dedicated GST compliance solution and selected Trust Fintech’s SoftGST as its software provider. The bank’s browser-based CBS solution, however, was built to run specifically on Internet Explorer 8 — a dependency that would soon become a critical liability.
Testimonial from Leadership
Challenges
Because the bank’s Core Banking System had been built specifically for Internet Explorer 8, Syndicate Bank had continued relying on the outdated browser for its browser-based CBS solution — including its GST compliance workflows. When Microsoft’s end-of-support for IE8 arrived, the bank faced a serious compliance and operational risk

A hard technology deadline
With IE8 support ending, the bank's GST software urgently needed to be re-engineered for compatibility with a modern, supported browser (IE11)

A compressed timeline
The bank floated the customisation requirement to Trust Fintech on 8th June 2017, with a firm 3-week deadline for full delivery

High-stakes, mission-critical scope
Any disruption to GST compliance reporting risked regulatory non-compliance for a bank of Syndicate Bank's scale
Solution Provided
Trust Fintech accepted the challenge and committed to the bank’s aggressive deadline. The project — an IE11 customisation of the existing SoftGST software — ran from 18th June to 30th July 2018, with all work coordinated closely with the bank’s DIT, DC, and DR teams.
The technical scope covered:
- 31 screens/forms updated for IE11 compatibility
- 50 JavaScript codes revised
- 3 reports in SoftGST updated and verified
- Testing activities conducted on IE11 at the Development Center
- UAT deployment and finalisation
The engagement followed a structured project methodology, including systems study and GAP finalisation, detailed project planning, hardware and system software assessment, customisation and parameterisation, testing across hardware, software, and networking, data preparation, migration/conversion script development, data verification and validation, and final sign-off on acceptance. The technology stack used was Microsoft VB.NET with Oracle JDBC/ODBC connectivity.
One unified platform
Business Impact
- Deadline beaten, not just met
The full 70 man-days of customisation were completed and UAT finalised in just 12 days — well inside the bank’s 3-week window.
- Uninterrupted GST compliance
The bank’s GST reporting continued without disruption through the browser transition
- Regulatory continuity assured
Syndicate Bank avoided any compliance risk tied to running unsupported browser infrastructure
- Proven crisis-response capability
The engagement demonstrated Trust Fintech’s ability to deliver mission-critical, time-sensitive technical work under real deadline pressure
Conclusion
When Syndicate Bank faced a hard technology deadline that threatened its GST compliance operations, Trust Fintech didn’t just meet the challenge — it beat it, delivering nearly two months’ worth of customisation work in under two weeks. The engagement stands as proof of Trust Fintech’s capability to handle mission-critical, time-boxed projects for large-scale banking clients without compromising on quality or compliance.
