Situation Overview
Sunshine Agri Pvt Ltd is a leading manufacturer and distributor of agricultural inputs — including pesticides, micronutrients, fertilizers, and water-soluble fertilizers. Established in 2005, the company has built its reputation on product quality and a commitment to supporting the development of Indian farmers and agriculture. As Sunshine Agri’s operations grew in complexity, the company recognised the need for an integrated ERP system to bring visibility and control across manufacturing, inventory, sales, and finance.

Challenges
Before implementing SAP Business One, Sunshine Agri faced a range of operational blind spots common to growing manufacturers without an integrated ERP

Inventory tracking difficulty
Tracking raw material inventory was a persistent operational challenge

No batch-level costing
The company had no reliable way to calculate the cost of a production batch

No product category profitability
Sunshine Agri couldn't determine which product categories were actually driving profitability

Manual price list management
With multiple price lists in use, manual calculation and maintenance was tedious and error-prone

Complicated dispatch process
The lack of a structured dispatch workflow slowed order fulfilment

Difficult sales promotion implementation
Running sales promotion schemes required cumbersome manual effort
Solution Provided
Sunshine Agri’s management took the initiative to implement SAP Business One, with Trust Fintech scoping the implementation across four key business processes: Sales and Distribution, Procurement and Inventory Management, Manufacturing, and Financials.
Inventory & Production: SAP B1 computerised the full logistics cycle — from purchase orders for raw materials, packing materials, chemicals and additives, and services, through to goods receipt, quality inspection (accept/reject), and purchase returns — with instant updates to inventory and accounts. On the production side, the system managed material transfers, supplier bill passing, bill of materials, production orders, material issue for production, sub-contracting, and finished goods receipt from production.
Sales & Distribution: The complete sales cycle was digitised — from sales enquiry and quotation through sales order, pick list (dispatch clearance), delivery-cum-invoice, and sales returns — giving Sunshine Agri a structured, end-to-end view of every transaction.
Key features implemented:
- Batch number tracking for both raw materials and finished goods
- Multiple price lists with automatic calculation logic
- Automatic taxation determination based on customer and item
- Cost centre tracking
- Sales Bill of Material
- User-level authorisations for controlled access
One unified platform
Business Impact
- Complete inventory visibility
Perfect, real-time inventory of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods became available directly from the system
- Automated batch costing
Sunshine Agri could now generate the cost of each production batch automatically, eliminating manual calculation
- Product category profitability
Each product category was treated as its own profit centre, giving management clear, category-wise profitability data for the first time
- Streamlined price list management
SAP B1’s built-in multiple price list feature automated price calculation — including special discounts by customer, item, quantity, and time period
- Faster, cleaner dispatch
The pick-list feature streamlined the dispatch process significantly
- Simplified sales promotions
Maintaining sales promotion schemes became considerably easier
- Rich sales and MIS reporting
Sunshine Agri gained salesman-wise, customer-wise, and product-wise sales analysis, along with vendor group, customer group, and item group MIS reports, plus ageing reports
- Automated approvals and alerts
Purchase orders and supplier payments moved to a structured approval workflow, while automated alerts notified managers of GRNs and incoming payments
Conclusion
Sunshine Agri’s SAP Business One implementation shows how a growing agricultural inputs manufacturer can move from fragmented, manual processes to a fully integrated view of its operations — from raw material procurement through production to final sale. With real-time inventory visibility, automated batch costing, and product-wise profitability now built into daily operations, Sunshine Agri gained the operational clarity needed to support its continued growth and its mission of serving Indian farmers with quality agricultural products.
